Review Methodology

How Tech Product Insight selects, tests, and scores products — and how affiliate relationships work.

We publish independent reviews and comparisons of software, AI tools, and tech products. Every score follows the process below.

Product selection

We prioritize tools readers actively compare: transcription apps, VPNs, hosting, productivity software, and hardware we can test in real workflows. We do not accept payment for placement in our lists.

Hands-on testing

Each reviewed product is used in realistic scenarios for at least several hours (often days or weeks for core software). We document setup friction, daily workflow fit, support quality, and value at the stated price.

Scoring rubric (0–5 editorial scale)

| Criterion | Weight | What we measure | |-----------|--------|-----------------| | Ease of use | 25% | Onboarding, UI clarity, learning curve | | Value | 25% | Price vs. features for the target buyer | | Performance | 20% | Speed, reliability, resource use | | Support & docs | 15% | Help center, responsiveness, updates | | Design & polish | 15% | UX consistency, accessibility basics |

Scores are editorial judgments by named reviewers, not user averages. We do not display site-wide reader ratings unless collected through a verified, auditable system.

Affiliate relationships

We earn commissions when you purchase through our links, at no extra cost to you. Commissions never change our scores or verdicts. See our [affiliate disclosure](/affiliate-disclosure) for full details.

Updates

Reviews are re-checked when vendors ship major updates or when pricing changes materially. Each article shows its publication date; we note significant revisions in the article body.
